RENEWABLE HEAT PREMIUM PAYMENT (RHPP)

The Renewable Heat Premium Payment was launched in August 2011 and will finish before the Renewable Heat Incentive (RHI) is launched. Premium payments are available for installations of Heat Pumps, Solar Thermal and Biomass Boilers for domestic customers only. It is available until 31st AMrch 2013, so you’ll need to hurry to apply.

RENEWABLE HEAT INCENTIVE (RHI)

The long awaited Renewable Heat Incentive is set to launch in Summer 2013, it will work similar to the Feed in Tariffs in that the revenue that you make from your renewable technology system will be deducted from your electricity bill even though the systems does not create any electricity.

If you plan to install or have installed Solar Thermal, Biomass Boilers or Heat Pumps since July 2009 you may be eligible to be paid for each unit of heat you produce via your renewable energy system.

LOWER RATE OF VAT ON RENEWABLE HEATING INSTALLATIONS

Solar Panels, Ground and Air Source Heat Pumps and Biomass Boilers are all eligible for the lower vat rate of 5%.

ENHANCED CAPITAL ALLOWANCE

The Enhanced Capital Allowance Scheme for Water Saving Investments is part of the government initiative to provide tax relief to businesses for investment in designated energy saving technology. The scheme allows businesses to claim 100% first year capital allowances on investment in technologies and products that encourage sustainable water use i.e. the whole cost of the investment can be written off against taxable profits.
